Remote Telehealth Appointments

Telephone or Video Dermatologist Consultations

Telehealth consultations are available for new and review appointments if you prefer, or are unable to attend the practice. This service is available for local and regional patients, no matter where you live in Australia. We regret that Dr Yip is unable to provide international telehealth services. Please note that not all skin and hair conditions are suitable for telehealth consultations e.g. mole checks. Please check with reception about the suitability of your condition before booking an appointment.

What are the fees for Telehealth Consultations?

Standard Appointments

As a guide, the teleconsultation fee for a new standard appointment is $285 (Medicare rebate $112.55 for residents in eligible regional areas, or COVID-19 temporary Medicare rebate of $75.05 for all Medicare card holders).

Hairloss Telehealth Consultations

All new hair loss teleconsultations and extended consultations are $365 (Medicare rebate $112.55 for residents in eligible regional areas, or COVID-19 temporary Medicare rebate of $75.05 for all Medicare card holders). Postage of prescriptions and documents are included in this fee.

Am I eligible for a Medicare rebate for a telehealth appointment?

To find out if your Australian regional address is eligible for telehealth Medicare rebates, please visit:

https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/health-workforce-locator/health-workforce-locator.

Tick the box for "ASGS Remoteness Area 2016", then enter your address in the "Find address" drop down box. You will be eligible if your address is within Code RA 2 to 5.

You will be required to provide a GP referral (to obtain Medicare rebates), a summary and good quality photos of your skin or hair condition emailed to Dr Yip for review before your telephone or video consultation appointment. For video consultations, a Zoom meeting invitation link will be emailed to you for your appointment. Prescriptions, pathology forms and other relevant documents will be emailed and posted to you after your appointment. Your GP will also usually receive a letter summarizing your consultation outcome.
